Our team leader, Tim Motz, was honoured to be awarded the Wallace Watson Award in support of the expedition. This annual award is to encourage and assist students of St Catherine’s College, Oxford to undertake expeditions or travel of a challenging nature, in a mountainous and/or remote area, thereby fostering an inner strength of character and a broadening of the mind. It sets out to help the individual gain a greater ability and self-confidence in handling physical and mental adversity, and a better appreciation of other cultures and ways of life. |

We were delighted to receive a Geographical Fieldwork Grant, and therewith the support and accreditation of the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers). The grant that we received was funded by Rio Tinto. |
