Our team consists of four members of Oxford University
Expedition Leader: Tim Motz

Tim is a 4th year undergraduate at St. Catherine’s College, studying European and Middle Eastern Languages. He developed a passion for Indian and Tibetan culture whilst travelling in northern India in his gap year, which included three months living and working in a Tibetan monastery. He has also travelled extensively in Ethiopia, Pakistan and Central Asia (for which he was awarded the prestigious Wallace Watson Travel Award 2007). He is the Répétiteur Scholar at St. Catherine’s College and completed his piano DipABRSM (2001) with distinction. |
Treasurer: Nakul Krishna
 |
Nakul, a native of Bangalore, has just received a First, from Exeter College for PPE. He received his first BA at St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore, and is a Rhodes Scholar. He is fluent in Hindi and English and is currently studying Tibetan. His interest in Tibetan musicology comes from an extensive knowledge of southern Indian music and an interest in the Buddhist culture of the North. |
Medical Officer: Sarah Skenazy
 |
Originally from Santa Cruz, Sarah has recently completed her fourth and final year of a liberal arts degree in philosophy of religion and philosophy of science at Oxford University. Sarah is a trained massage therapist and hiking enthusiast, with relevant experience in audio visual recording and Tibetan Buddhist history and culture. She underwent comprehensive medical training in preparation for the expedition. She has previously travelled extensively in the US, the South Pacific, and all over Latin America. |
Technical Officer: Ben Little
 |
Ben is a post-graduate student at St. Hugh’s College, reading for an MBA. Before coming to Oxford, he earned a BA from the College of William and Mary studying ethnomusicology, where he was able to conduct field research under the Monroe Scholar program. This included fieldwork comparing street music in post-Soviet countries and Western European countries. For the past five years, Ben has pursued a career in marketing and communications in the Boston area, most recently serving as the marketing director for a small high tech firm. |
